Local Plan review: Preferred Options

The Preferred Options consultation has now closed and a summary of representations will be published shortly. The consultation ran for 8 weeks from 28 May 2021 until 23 July 2021.

The council is now preparing the Pre-Submission Draft (Regulation 19). This is the final stage of the process before submission of the Local Plan to the Secretary of State. The Pre-Submission consultation will be held in winter 2021.

What is a Local Plan?

Richmondshire District Council is currently reviewing its Local Plan Core Strategy (adopted in 2014), with a new Local Plan looking forward to 2039. The Local Plan covers the part of Richmondshire outside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Local Plan sets out a vision for Richmondshire and a strategy to achieve these ambitions through planning decisions. The policies also set out what type of development is and is not acceptable in the Richmondshire Plan Area, in conjunction with national planning policies.
