Advice on reducing your carbon footprint
Local people are being urged to join an event to learn how to reduce the carbon footprint of their households.
Richmond is hosting its first ‘eco festival’ next weekend (October 2) where members of the newly formed Richmondshire Climate Action Partnership will be promoting ‘green living’.
It will include practical help with input from companies providing air source heat pumps and solar panels. There will also be recycling tips from Richmond Recycling, Re-cycle waster Richmondshire and North Yorkshire Rotters.
Members of the Newton le Willows eco project will be showing what can be done in a village; examples of electric vehicles will be on display and there will be arts activities for children with Hayley Coates.
“This day is to show the public what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint,” said Partnership member, Georgie Sale.
“We will be showcasing examples of where organisations are promoting ‘green’ living. We are committed to promoting these issues but we need local people to embrace them too.”
The eco festival takes place at Richmond Methodist Church Hall on October 2 from 10am until 3pm. Admission is free.
