A special park and ride service will ferry visitors to the Richmond leg of the world championships next week.
Richmondshire District Council is providing free buses from Catterick for people visiting by car to watch the start of the junior men’s road race on Thursday (September 26).
Buses will run from the Ypres Lines, Hipswell Road (DL9 3BH) site from 9am until 11.30am and then return from the Nuns Close drop off point from 12.30pm until 3pm.
Limited parking is also available in the town centre. Blue badge holders should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details of locations.
Residents of the town centre who have a reserved parking space through the North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) permit scheme are asked to check out the information posted to them this week – and observe the parking restrictions in place from September 25 to allow for the race infrastructure to be set up. All residents and business owners with a NYCC permit can park in a district council run car park for no charge during this time.
Waste collections across the town centre have also been suspended for the race – affected householders and businesses will need to put their bins out a day early next week (Wednesday September 25, not Thursday September 26). All affected residents and businesses have been contacted – anyone who hasn’t had a postcard with change details should follow their normal collection calendar.
- Riders from almost 50 nations are expected to take part in the Richmond market place start of the UCI Road World Championships. The championships return to the district three days later coming through the Dales on its final day in Yorkshire – Sunday September 29
