£1 million scheme almost 50% complete
A £1 million programme to improve council owned housing in Richmondshire is almost 50% complete.
So far this year the district council has spent £433,000 on energy efficiency schemes. Another £30,000 has been spent on external redecoration.
The largest spend has been on new and replacement boilers for 103 homes. Also another 17 properties in Reeth are getting new energy efficient high heat retention night storage heating systems.
With this work now complete, contractor Kier has turned to the replacement of 54 kitchens and 27 bathrooms.
And council officers are already working up the programme for the next financial year.
“The Housing Improvement Programme is an annual investment of around £1 million into our housing stock,” said Corporate Director, Colin Dales.
“Next year’s programme is almost finalised. All the affected tenants can expect to be notified early in 2022. We are working hard to bring all our housing stock up to date whether that is through a new kitchen or bathroom, or with energy efficiency measures. It future proofs our properties and provides residents with modern facilities that improve their lifestyles.”
