Extra funding for the homeless
Richmondshire District Council has secured a £47,770 Government grant to help with its work on homelessness prevention.
Along with local authorities across the UK it bid for funding to help mitigate against a possible increase in rough sleeping as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We will use the cash to support our work with single homeless people who are either rough sleeping or at risk from rough sleeping,” said Council Leader, Councillor Angie Dale.
“Whilst the rough sleeping problem in Richmondshire is smaller than in some other areas, this funding will enable us to continue our preventative and support work. It will assist those who are either rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping particularly over the autumn and winter months of 2020/21. It will prove important to us given that we are still experiencing the effects of the pandemic.”
