Small Business Grant scheme
A Richmondshire based graphic designer has boosted his business thanks to a District Council grant.
Neil McNally has received £1,000 from the Small Business Grant scheme to help market the new business - which he relaunched in Richmond 12 months ago after a six year gap.
During that time he learned new skills so that the new Neil McNally Graphics can offer a full in house service. With the help of a marketing consultancy he also hopes to boost the business enough to bring in an apprentice.
“As a designer I am a visual person, but I am absolutely hopeless at making connections and telling the world about my business,” he said. “So I am using the grant to spread the word about my business through a marketing plan.
“Initially projects were sparse and I was slightly apprehensive as to whether the approach was going to be effective. But slowly and surely I am beginning to see the rewards from the small and big changes I’ve made in how and where I promote my business. I have grown in confidence as well as in the most important area - sales!”
The Small Business Grant scheme offers up to £1,000 to small businesses under 36 months old to help start and grow. The fund can be used towards the purchase of equipment, marketing costs and adaptation to premises.
