Fitness business expands

A new fitness business has been helped to expand thanks to a grant from the District Council.

Richard Coates set up Typhoon Fitness in Scorton six months ago after spending more than 20 years working in the fitness industry - offering fitness classes and personal training in and around Richmondshire.

He began with classes in Scorton, but with the help of a small business grant from Richmondshire District Council will now expand to other local villages to help people with limited time get some quality exercise without having to spend time in a car traveling to a gym. He can also offer personal training from his studio, from the office and home on a one to one or one to four basis.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the grant scheme,” said Richard. “It has meant I have been able to set up my own business and now expand to offer a service to more areas.”

The Small Business Grant Scheme offers up to £1,000 to small businesses under 36 months old to help start and grow. The fund can be used towards the purchase of equipment, marketing costs and adaptation to premises.
