Top spot for district council website
Richmondshire District Council’s website has risen up the quality ranks – taking top spot against its UK counterparts.
It now holds first place in the latest Sitemorse ratings which look at quality, accessibility, functionality and performance.
“We are delighted that the website is recognised as being open to everyone especially those with particular disabilities,” said Council Leader, Councillor Angie Dale.
“It is particularly important now when our offices are closed and we are directing a lot of our customers to do business and get information through richmondshire.gov.uk.”
The website was re-launched three years ago as part of the council’s programme to increase access to digital services and make council services accessible 24/ 7 to people across the rural district. It features increased online services where residents can pay bills, apply online and report issues.
- The website auditing service, Sitemorse, tests a website by looking at four key areas and weights each of them to get an overall score - for functionality; performance; accessibility and quality
- Richmondshire District Council uses Sitemorse to help manage, monitor and improve its digital presence. It identifies key issues that improve user experience and monitors fresh content to help the authority achieve the highest standards of accessibility.
