Two Richmondshire communities are set to receive funding to celebrate the 2019 visit of the Tour de Yorkshire to the district.
They will use cash from the District Council to fund local events - both Middleham Sports and Community Association and Carlton Town Parish Council have received a grant from the authority’s Tour de Yorkshire fund.
But there is still another £4,000 available with local groups urged to apply. Grants of up to £1000 are available – and they can help with events or pay for the materials and equipment needed to create land art along the route the tour will take in Richmondshire on Sunday May 5.
Applications must be made by 12 noon on Monday April 8 - by parish councils, community and voluntary organisations. Individuals and businesses cannot apply.
The 2019 Tour de Yorkshire comes though the district on its last day – riders will head through Middleham and East Witton on their way to a finish line in Leeds.
