A new scheme to help Richmondshire businesses employ apprentices has been launched today (5 March 2018) as part of National Apprentice Week.
The District Council scheme has £30,000 in funding which will help small district based businesses take on new apprentices – many for the first time. They can receive up to £2,000 in grant aid and support for training and equipment.
It aims to encourage economic growth, develop home grown talent and retain young people to stay in the district.
The scheme is open to Richmondshire businesses that employ 50 people or less – with priority given to those with less than 20 members of staff; and have an annual turnover of less than £50 million. Both the business and the apprentice must be based in the district.

- National Apprentice Week (NAW) from March 5-9 celebrates apprenticeships and how they benefit people, businesses, communities and the economy. Now in its eleventh year it brings people together to encourage apprenticeships as a fast track to career and business growth.
