Area partnership funding secured
A scheme that has helped fund almost 700 local community projects in the last decade has entered its final year - with another £50,000 in its pot.
Richmondshire District Council’s five Area Partnerships will each receive another £10,000 to award to local projects. The authority’s Corporate Board this week (Tuesday 14 June) agreed to continue to support the partnership grants – which have helped secure around £2.034m in funding for the district since the scheme was launched in 2009.
The grants have been awarded to parish councils, community and sports groups for everything from large equipment purchases to smaller community noticeboards. Last year 68 schemes received funding towards projects costing £147,540.
“This is a vital funding scheme for local projects – it’s been successfully received in the community over the last decade, and it reaches into the heart of our communities,” said Leader of the Council, Councillor Angie Dale.
“We look forward to helping many more projects in our last year as a district council.”
The five partnerships cover Upper Dales, Central (including Richmond), Lower Wensleydale, Garrison and North Richmondshire. Each has a further £10,000 to allocate with a maximum grant request of £1,000 per application. Councillors also agreed to roll forward any underspends from the previous years giving partnerships another £15,411 to allocate.
