Precautions for animal businesses
Veterinary practices and other animal based businesses are being advised to continue to take extra precautions during the COVID-19 restrictions.
While there have been no confirmed cases of transmission of coronavirus from pets to people it is still vital that restriction guidance is followed.
Richmondshire District Council environmental health officers are advising that a COVID-19 risk assessment is undertaken – specific to the business and following guidance from a registered body such as the Kennel Club or British Horse Riding Society.
Businesses are also advised to:
- Implement effective hygiene procedures, including regular hand washing for 20 seconds using soap and water
- Wear gloves to avoid any unnecessary contact
- Comply with the requirements relating to social distancing, staying 2 metres apart at all times
- Check they have valid insurance
