Buildings across Richmondshire are to celebrate the district’s 100 day countdown to the visit of the world cycle championships.
They will be lit up with the iconic UCI rainbow logo as the build up to the September event ramps up.
Richmondshire District Council’s Mercury House was the first to feature the UCI logo – the Station in Richmond, Richmond Castle and Dales Bike Centre are among some of the buildings that will feature the logo over the next three months.
Richmond market place will welcome the world’s top cyclists on Thursday September 26 when the Men’s Junior road race in the UCI Road World Championships sets off from the cobbles. Riders will cycle through Catterick Garrison, Leyburn and Aysgarth as they head to the finish line in Harrogate 144.5km later.
And that same weekend (September 29) riders will once again venture into the district, with the Men’s Elite road race passing through the Dales on the final day of the championships.
