Richmondshire District Council

Modern heating systems installed

New heating systems have been installed in council bungalows in Reeth. This will lower running costs for tenants.

In the £100,000 project Richmondshire District Council replaced the old electric night storage heating units for a new electric high heat retention system in 17 properties. The heaters maximise the use of off peak tariffs.

The homes also had top up loft insulation where needed.

“We listened to our tenants who were telling us the cost of heating their homes was high,” said Ward Member and Joint Spokesperson for Housing, Councillor Richard Good.

“We have delivered a modern efficient heating system and topped up loft insulation in these homes and already they are seeing reduced energy costs. The work also contributes to our climate change agenda.”

The work was delivered as part of the council’s Home Improvement Programme.

Tenant, Steven Roberts, says bills at his Quaker Close bungalow have gone down from £600 to around £200 since the new system was fitted.
