Support for businesses preparing to reopen
As more businesses prepare to re-open this weekend, district council officers are offering continued support to make that happen safely for both customers and staff.
They urge that the simple messages to wash hands regularly, increase surface cleaning and observe two metres social distancing where possible (one metre with risk mitigation) are adhered to.
The authority’s team of environmental health officers is offering guidance to businesses looking to reopen citing three simple steps to take:
- go through the simple six stage questionnaire. This will lead to guidance that will help the necessary risk assessment to make sure employees and other people are kept safe
- read the detailed guidance for individual sectors. There is general guidance in the ‘5 steps to working safely’ section and twelve detailed sector specific guides that will give practical help
- Carry out a risk assessment. This should give confidence to customers and staff that it is a COVID-19 secure premise. Take a look at our simple risk assessment template. Risk assessments must be reviewed regularly.
Businesses are also asked to remember to check with their insurance company before reopening.
