Council welcomes new apprentices
Richmondshire District Council has welcomed its first four apprentices as part of a new in-house scheme to offer career opportunities to local people.
The ‘Earn, Learn, Succeed’ apprenticeship programme has been set up in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with opportunities across a host of areas of the authority’s work. The new staff will also be able to benefit from the vast experience of current staff.
The first four began work as Junior Content Producer apprentice, Business Administration and Change apprentices and HR Support Apprentice this week (January 18). They will work with the council’s Apprenticeship/Trainee Coordinator and approved training providers for on the job training as well as for paid-time study.
“This is a really exciting new scheme for the council. We have long supported apprenticeships in other businesses but this is the first time we have had a dedicated programme to bring people into the authority across all parts of our work,” said Council Leader, Councillor Angie Dale.
“These first four are not young people who have just left school, they are all in their 20s with some having pursued degrees and other qualifications.
“An apprenticeship will enable them to gain skills, experience and recognised qualifications while they earn a decent wage. We look forward to welcoming even more fresh talent into the Council.”
