Council tax remains unchanged

Richmondshire District Councillors have waived any increase in council tax for their final year in control.

Members of the authority’s Full Council this week (Tuesday 22 February) agreed that council tax charges for their portion of the annual bill remain unchanged for the next 12 months.

It will mean council tax for an average Band D property remains at £225 a year, or £4.33 a week.

“Council tax underpins all our corporate priorities providing a key source of income that enables the delivery of services and balances our budget,” said Council Leader, Councillor Angie Dale.

“But these are hard times for everyone. Covid-19 is having an impact on all our budgets whether at home, for a business or here at the council, so it was important we do what we can to help everyone get through this rough patch.”

Members also approved a budget of £7,258,900 for 2022/23.
