Disabled Facilities Grants top £300,000
Richmondshire homes have benefitted from grants totalling more than £300,000 in the last 12 months - to help with adaptations to allow disabled people to live independently.
The money has been given by the Government for Disabled Facilities Grants and had an extra boost in late December of £36,559.
Despite the limitations the coronavirus pandemic has put on completing work, 18 homes have so far seen work either underway or completed. Further grant applications are being processed now, with applicants asked to be patient during the current restrictions.
Grants have been given for a variety of work including installing ramps, wet rooms or widening door openings to allow people to remain living in their own homes.
“We are currently carrying out all grant applications and installations in line with covid guidelines and the work will only go ahead if the householder wants it to progress,” said Corporate Director, Colin Dales.
