A call for help to create an iconic piece of land art to celebrate the visit of the Tour de Yorkshire to Richmondshire has gone out.
The District Council is looking for an artist to design, create and install the temporary artwork – which will need to depict the district, be bold, weatherproof and large scale so it can be captured as part of the television coverage of the race.
Day two of the Tour de Yorkshire comes to the district on May 1 when both the women’s and men’s races finish in Leyburn market place having travelled from Skipton through Hawes, the Buttertubs, Reeth and Constable Burton.
The council has set aside £5000 for the commissioned piece of work which is inclusive of artist fees, materials, installation and travel. It must be fully installed by Tuesday April 28.
Artists seeking more information should contact Jo-Anne Simpson on 01748 901045.
