Richmondshire District Council

Richmondshire is marking national apprenticeship week by announcing its district wide scheme still has £20,000 up for grabs.

The District Council’s wage subsidy scheme has already seen 23 apprentices appointed in 20 businesses since its launch in 2018.

They have included hairdressers, electricians, software companies and retailers with a range of levels of apprentice from Level 2-5 covering everything from digital marketing to motor vehicle technician, hospitality to accountancy.

Businesses looking to appoint an apprentice to complete a Level 1-3 apprenticeship can apply for up to £2,000 towards the wages of their apprentice – with businesses taking on a higher level apprentice of 4 and above can apply for £3,000.

Both the business and the apprentice must be based in Richmondshire and priority will be given to those looking to appoint an apprentice aged 16-24. They should also have an annual turnover of less than £50 million and fewer than 50 employees, with priority given to businesses with fewer than 20 employees.

Applications will be considered on a bi-monthly basis - the scheme will stop accepting further applications once the total funds have been allocated.

Further details of the scheme, including the application form and guidance, can be found on our apprenticeship page
