Garage to be demolished - road to remain closed
A Richmond petrol station destroyed by fire last week is to be demolished.
And Victoria Road on which it is sited will remain closed for the next few days - but will reopen by August 28 at the latest. Motorists will take a diversion through the town centre during this time.
Harvest Energy will empty fuel tanks and demolish the building in line with insurance and planning requirements. All issues with asbestos have already been dealt with.
Richmondshire District Council’s environmental health team continues to work with them on health and safety issues. And the company is to consult council planners as they look to rebuild the garage.
Residents living around the site were evacuated out of their homes as the blaze took hold – but most have been allowed back into their properties
