Grant provides new diving blocks to swimming club
A Richmond based swimming club has reopened following pandemic lockdown restrictions boasting new, first class training facilities.
The Richmond Dales Amateur Swimming Club has installed six new competition diving blocks at one of its bases in Catterick Leisure Centre – thanks to a grant from the district council.
The club received £6,030 from the authority’s Community Investment Fund for its £8,614 scheme to replace the outdated blocks at the pool. They will be available to club swimmers of all ages, and particularly help disabled swimmers, as well as encourage new members from across the county and North East.
Founded in 1976 the club, which uses both the Catterick and Richmond Pools, has around 130 members.
The District Council grant scheme supports community projects or activities. It has a total allocation of £300,000, with £200,000 ring-fenced for projects which will predominantly benefit the growth areas of Colburn, Hipswell, Leyburn, Richmond and Scotton.
