Richmondshire residents are being warned that flytippers will be prosecuted – despite the current reduced provision for the disposal of waste.
With the larger household waste recycling centres closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, district council officers are having to deal with a three fold increase in fly tipped waste.
In the last three weeks members of the District Council’s street scene team have had to pick up 30 lots of dumped waste, including garden and household waste.
“We are diverting much needed street cleansing resources to picking up waste tipped by irresponsible and anti social individuals,” said Corporate Director, Colin Dales.
“We ask all residents to dispose of their rubbish and recycling responsibly, via our kerbside collections or our smaller recycling bring sites.
“Despite the situation we are in at the moment we will continue to prosecute fly tippers.”
To report incidents of fly tipping contact the council via our online report fly-tipping form or on 01748 829100 with as much detail as possible including location, vehicle registration, description of individuals.
