Richmondshire District Council

Access to Disabled Facilities Grant scheme

Richmondshire residents continue to have access to a grants scheme that helps them adapt their homes.

The District Council’s disabled facilities grant scheme is being administered as far as possible within current restrictions and social distancing measures.

There is no face-to-face contact with customers and wherever possible assessments will be carried out over the telephone, with online forms being used to gather information and submit applications. While no new surveys will be undertaken, where a survey has already been done and drawings and prices for the work obtained these can be submitted for grant consideration either by post or online.

No work will start until the current restrictions are lifted and it is safe for customers to have contractors carrying out work in their home - unless the adaptation is of an extremely urgent nature when all government guidance will be adhered to with regard to social distancing.

All our existing customers will be contacted by letter to advise them of the current situation. Once restrictions are lifted we will be back in touch to confirm how long they can expect to wait for their adaptation.

Existing customers and anyone who would just like to discuss the Disabled Facilities Grant scheme can contact the council’s Home Improvement Agency team on 01748 901112 or email
