Council officials are working to re-open two public toilet blocks in Richmond.
The Richmondshire District council run facilities in Nuns Close and at The Falls were closed earlier this week after a bout of serious vandalism.
And officers are asking Richmond residents to help them fight the vandals by being extra vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the police.
The authority is also looking to provide extra surveillance in the areas – including cctv cameras.
“We apologise for the problems these closures cause but we need to work on repairing the damage and preventing future vandalism,” said Corporate Director, Colin Dales.
“We are eager to re-open as soon as possible and work with the police and local residents on combatting this anti-social behaviour.”
There are alternative toilets in the Market Hall in Richmond.
