Workshops to boost tourism in Richmondshire
A series of workshops to encourage tourism businesses to get involved in a new initiative for Richmondshire take place next month.
The District Council is working with the Dales Tourism Network to create a destination and marketing action plan for the area – to bring in more visitors and with it more revenue.
A draft plan will be shared at four workshops – in Hawes, Reeth, Richmond and Leyburn on September 11 and 14. It is hoped representatives from accommodation providers, attractions, food and drink businesses and local shops will come along to learn more about the proposals, add their views and see how their business might benefit. The sessions will also give them an opportunity to network with similar businesses.
Susan Briggs of the Tourism Network who will lead the sessions said: “We want to make sure that anyone connected to tourism in Richmondshire has a genuine opportunity to contribute and benefit from this Plan.
“We want to work together to develop tourism by looking at the visitor economy in its broadest sense - that means including providers of accommodation, attractions, places to eat and drink and local food as well as artists, craftspeople, villages, towns, landmarks, events, and most of all the local people - all these different aspects of Richmondshire appeal to visitors.”
