Consultation on local green spaces
Communities are being invited to submit suggestions for land and sites to be formally designated as ‘local green spaces’.
As part of the current review of Richmondshire District Council’s Local Development Plan (LDF) - for the towns and villages outside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park - local parishes are being asked to put forward new areas for ‘local green space designation’.
A previous consultation two years ago saw 77 of the 121 sites submitted designated.
This further consultation gives communities the opportunity to identify and protect green areas of particular importance, subject to meeting the criteria set out within the National Planning Policy.
The land should be local in character (not an extensive tract of land), in reasonably close proximity to the community it serves as well as being demonstrably special to a local community and hold a particular local significance – that could be because of its beauty, historic significance, recreational value (including as a playing field), tranquillity or richness of its wildlife.
The submission form and further information on the consultation are available on our local green spaces page.
For further information on the consultation contact the local plan team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01748 829100.
The closing date for the consultation is July 23.
