Richmondshire District Council

Richmondshire communities are being asked to help identify important green spaces in the district.

As part of the review of its Local Development Plan - for towns and villages outside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park – the district council is inviting them to submit land to be considered for ‘local green space designation’.

It gives local people the opportunity to identify and protect green areas of particular importance, subject to meeting the criteria set out within national planning policy.

The land should be local in character (not an extensive tract of land), in reasonably close proximity to the community it serves, as well as be demonstrably special to a local community and hold a particular local significance.  That could be because of its beauty, historic significance, recreational value (including as a playing field), tranquillity or richness of its wildlife.

Following the consultation, the land submitted will be assessed and those that meet the criteria will be put forward for consultation this Autumn 2019.

The closing date for this consultation is July 26, 2019.
