A single parking permit for anyone wishing to use Richmondshire’s car parks on a regular basis looks set to be introduced.
It will mean than from this spring (April 1) annual permits for people living within and outside of the district council’s boundaries will be the same price. Currently it is £15 more for a non Richmondshire resident.
Members of the District Council’s Corporate Board will tomorrow (Tuesday Jan 15) be asked to adopt a recommendation from their Scrutiny Committee colleagues to create a new single annual permit - £115 a year.
“We have listened to what our fellow members have said – and they have taken on board the views of our car park users,” said Council Leader, Councillor Yvonne Peacock.
“We have a great many people who work in Richmondshire but live outside the district – they were being disadvantaged under the two permit system. This new single permits brings both in line and we don’t believe it will make a material difference to the financial impact of parking fees.”
