Richmondshire District Council

Seven new apprenticeships will be supported in Richmondshire thanks to grants from the District Council.

They are the first grants to be awarded from the authority’s Apprenticeship Wage Subsidy Scheme – which was launched in February.  The companies have received grants of £2,000 and £3,000.

Apprenticeships include a Junior Content Producer at a Richmond on line retailing business, a Greenkeeper in Catterick, Marketing Apprentice at Jervaulx and a Care Co-ordinator in Leyburn.

Through the scheme, local businesses are able to apply for funding to support the costs of taking on a new apprentice with a grant towards their wages. Apprenticeships of Level 1-3 can secure a grant of £2,000 whilst businesses looking to appoint an apprentice on a Level 4 or above apprenticeship can apply for £3,000.

The pot is limited and so an early application is recommended. Having spent £15,000 to date, the scheme currently has £9,000 left to award. The next deadline for applications is 12 noon on 31 May 2019.
