Richmondshire's blooming lovely gardens

Richmondshire housing tenants are preparing to do battle in the annual competition to find the best gardens in the district.

Judges will mystery shop gardens in all District Council owned homes looking for the best window boxes, tubs, baskets, borders and vegetable patches. And there will be prizes for the best overall gardens too.

“We have had some wonderful gardens to judge over the past few years – and many repeat winners,” said Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Threlfall.

“For 2017 we hope to see some new entrants take part – it doesn’t matter how large or small the plot is, or if it is only a window box or tub we will look at them all and judge them on how the space has been used and how blooming lovely they are!”

During July and August judges will look at the blooms in the council’s five area partnership areas - the Upper Dales, Catterick Garrison, Lower Wensleydale, A66 and Central Richmond.

Certificates and prizes – garden centre vouchers of £50, £30 and £20 - will be awarded in September.
