The first phase of a £105,000 programme to update district council run toilet blocks in Richmondshire will start this spring.
Members of the authority’s Corporate Board last night (January 16) gave approval to the scheme – which is part of the council’s ten year capital programme.
During 2018/19 £20,000 of it will be invested in upgrading ten of the oldest hand wash units. The remaining 20 units will be replaced by the end of 2021.
The improvement programme will also see repairs to:

- Grinton toilets: replacing old rotten windows, replacing the gents urinal, and redecoration
- Railway Street toilets: repairing / replacing windows, improving ventilation to facilities to remove strong smells, redecoration
- Bainbridge gents toilets: replacing damaged worn urinal and redecoration
