Recycle your old textiles
Richmondshire householders are being urged to recycle their old clothes and textiles.
They can place them out with their fortnightly kerbside waste collections – with their recycling bags and boxes.
Textile bring banks are currently not being emptied as frequently by recycling companies. So unless the items are kept until after the coronavirus pandemic, the only disposal methods are at the kerbside or at one of the North Yorkshire County Council run household waste recycling centres. Currently there are only ten open in the county – including at Gatherley Road in Brompton on Swale.
“We understand people are using this prolonged period of time at home to clear out cupboards and wardrobes, so we urge them to either hang on to unwanted textiles until the current restrictions pass or place them out with kerbside recycling,” said Corporate Director, Colin Dales.
Textiles placed at the kerbside must be in clear bags so crews can identify the recycling as textiles, and they should be left out with regular recycling boxes and bags.
