Richmondshire Dementia Action Alliance is working hard to make the district becoming dementia friendly – with their latest project bringing together the district council and the fire service.
The local authority handed over a graphic ‘wrap’ to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service – to go on one of the engines based in the district. It will raise awareness of dementia – and adds to the work that has seen all the operational crews across Richmondshire become dementia friends.
Councillor Yvonne Peacock from Richmondshire District Council said: “This is important work for the council – which is also a dementia friend. We are looking at all ways we can to raise awareness and support the alliance to achieve dementia friendly community status across Richmondshire.”
Head of Protection and Prevention, David Pitt from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “During Dementia Action Week in May we ran a series of training sessions at fire stations and workplaces across our area which saw all our Richmondshire operational crews become dementia friends.”
