Proposals for the review of polling districts, places and stations will be published later this month.
The district council is looking for comments from electors – especially on polling stations and possible alternative venues – before the new arrangements are formally adopted. The district returning officer’s proposals have been drawn up following a survey undertaken in the run up and during the May elections.
The review is looking to ensure that:
- all electors have reasonable and practicable facilities for voting
- as far as is reasonable and practicable, polling places are accessible to all electors, including those who are disabled
Views from any local constituency political party and any person/group who has a particular interest and/or expertise in access and facilities for persons with any type of disability are also welcome.
The proposals will be available on our website and at council offices in Richmond, Reeth, Leyburn, Hawes and Colburn from 26 July 2019.
The consultation period runs until 13 September 2019.
