Additional funding allocated to improve local play parks

A scheme to improve play parks across Richmondshire has been extended.

Members of the District Council’s Corporate Board last week (10 January) allocated a further £65,000 to a project which will update council owned facilities.

It comes on top of £400,000 set aside for this work 12 months ago – that pot also included money for grants to community run play parks.

Since then seven council owned parks have been upgraded in Richmond, Brompton on Swale and Tunstall. And the extra £65,000 will add another six to the list. They are in Brompton on Swale, North Cowton, Preston under Scar, Richmond and Brough with St Giles.

Councillors also requested that another £75,000 be allocated to this element of the initiative. That request has to be approved by North Yorkshire County Council as part of the changeover to the new North Yorkshire Council.
