Richmondshire District Council’s new website has risen up the quality ranks – jumping more than 200 places since it was launched nine months ago.
It is now placed third in the Sitemorse ratings which look at quality, accessibility and coding.
The previous site sat 205th out of the 409 authorities.
“We are delighted that we have improved so much and so quickly and that the site is recognised as being open to everyone especially those with particular disabilities,” said Council Leader, Councillor Yvonne Peacock.
The new website was launched as part of the council’s programme to increase access to digital services and make council services accessible 24/ 7 to people across the rural district. It features increased online services where residents can pay bills, apply on line and report issues.
• The website auditing service, Sitemorse, tests a website by looking at four key areas and weights each of them to get an overall score - for functionality; performance; accessibility and quality.
• Richmondshire District Council uses Sitemorse to help manage, monitor and improve its digital presence – it identifies key issues and monitors fresh content to help the authority achieve the highest standards of content quality.
