Nepalese ambassador visits council
Richmondshire District Council has played host to the Nepalese Ambassador, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi.
A civic reception was held at Mercury House in Richmond when he met Council Chairman, Councillor Angie Dale and Corporate Director, Callum McKeon. Representatives from Colburn Town Council also joined the meeting when they discussed how links between the two communities could be strengthened.
Cllr Dale (who is pictured with the Ambassador) said: “We are very honoured that the Ambassador paid us a visit and offered his support and we look forward to working with him in the future.”
He presented Cllr Dale with a ceremonial Khukuri - a Nepalese knife with an inwardly curved blade which is a characteristic weapon of the Gurkha.
