Richmondshire District Council

Apprenticeships with Richmondshire businesses could benefit from a £40,000 fund set aside by the district council.

The authority’s wage subsidy scheme is designed to help employ apprentices in small businesses – either as first time or additional posts.

“The current scheme was revised earlier this year to encourage economic growth, develop home grown talent and retain young people to live and work in the district,” said Leader of the Council, Councillor Angie Dale.

It can provide up to £2,000 for a level one and two apprentice, and £3,000 for a level four.

So far this year 13 apprentices have been helped and further businesses are asking for aid.

Members of the authority’s Corporate Board approved the grant aid when it met this week (Tuesday September 10).
