People in Richmondshire are being called upon to unite against dementia by supporting a memory walk next month.
The Richmondshire Dementia Action Alliance Memory Walk takes place in and around Coronation Park in Catterick Garrison on Sunday 23rd September to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The walk will follow a Richmondshire Walking for Health route taking in Tesco, Coronation Park, Hipswell, St. John’s Road and Risedale School. It is two miles long, accessible, has access to toilets, rest stops and car parking nearby and can be completed in about an hour.
“We are asking for help by people signing up to take part in the walk and gathering their own sponsorship funding,” said Councillor Yvonne Peacock, Richmondshire District Council Leader.
“We are hoping to not only raise valuable funds for the Alzheimer’s Society but also to raise awareness around dementia within our local communities. Dementia is set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer. We are calling on everyone to unite against it and join this walk.”
