Grant enables expansion for local soapmaker
A Tunstall based soapmaker has created a home workshop for her new business thanks to a District Council grant.
Amy D’Arcy launched BEAM from her home in June 2021, but soon realised she needed more space to create her artisan, all natural soaps and body care products.
She has received £1,000 from the Small Business Grant scheme.
“I launched my small business in June 2021 after recovering from a serious illness when, during my recovery, I studied the age old skills of traditional soap making and decided to turn this in to my business,” she said.
“The grant has provided me with items to create a home workshop, tools to create a larger number of soaps to fulfil bigger trade orders and items which allow me to trade at events. I was thrilled to receive the grant and am so grateful to have a supportive local council.”
BEAM uses plant based, natural ingredients to create great soap and body care products, without the use of potentially harmful chemicals.
The Small Business Grant Scheme offers up to £1,000 to small businesses under 36 months old to help start and grow. The fund can be used towards the purchase of equipment, marketing costs and adaptation to premises.
