Richmondshire motorists have easier access to electric charging points.
The district was highlighted in a national report as having the highest number of charging points in North Yorkshire per head of population.
Of the 137 points in the county, 37 are in Richmondshire – an average of 32 per 100,000 people. The North Yorkshire average is 18, and the UK average 23.
The statistics come from a Department of Transport report into zero and low carbon emissions to improve air quality.
“We are encouraged by the high number of charging points already in Richmondshire,” said District Council spokesperson, Councillor Philip Wicks.
“We are currently developing our green agenda for Richmondshire and encouraging the use of electric vehicles is on that list. It is good to see that we are already ahead of other local authorities, but many of these points are in the national park, service stations and hotels. We will continue to work on identifying suitable locations for further additional charging points.”
