A scheme that has helped almost 500 local community groups over the last nine years has another £50,000 in its funding pot.
Richmondshire District Council’s five Area Partnerships will each receive £10,000 to award to local projects. The authority’s Corporate Board this week (Tuesday February 12) agreed to continue to support the partnership grants – which have helped secure around £1.6m in funding for the district.
The grants have been awarded to parish councils, community and sports groups for everything from large equipment purchases to smaller community noticeboards.
“This is a vital funding scheme for local projects – we have already allocated a massive £305,856 which has helped 493 projects and in our tenth year we look forward to helping even more,” said Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Threlfall.
“The maximum amount we can allocate any one group is £1,000 but that can make the difference between a project going ahead or stalling.”
