Cash to install energy efficiency measures in 70 Richmondshire homes has been approved.
Members of the District Council’s Corporate Board last night (July 9) agreed to allocate £52,000 for the ecoflex scheme. It will provide match funding for a national scheme which looks to alleviate fuel poverty – loft and cavity wall insulation, boiler replacement and new central heating projects are included.
As part of the countrywide Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, energy suppliers have a duty to fund the installation of some energy efficiency measures, with local authorities encouraged to define the criteria that identifies ‘vulnerable’ people in fuel poverty.
“This £52,000 will allow us to help people living in fuel poverty to have a better standard of living,” said Council Leader, Councillor Angie Dale.
“We hope to help 70 homes in the first year.”
