Richmondshire District Council is a ‘Disability Confident Employer’.
It has become the latest in around 16,000 businesses across the UK to join the government’s Disability Confident movement which aims to create change by encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
“Being Disability Confident is a unique opportunity for us to lead the way in our community,” said District Council Chief Executive, Tony Clark.
“The scheme was developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives to make it rigorous but easily accessible – particularly for smaller businesses. And it will help other businesses and employees see we are committed to equality in the workplace.”
