Richmondshire District Council

Richmondshire District Council is backing a national campaign to tackle fuel poverty.

In support of Fuel Poverty Awareness Day tomorrow (Friday November 29) it is providing eligible residents with insulation and brand new A-rated boilers - for free in the majority of cases.

Through its ECO Flex Energy Improvement Scheme qualifying residents in Richmondshire can improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce fuel bills.

It is estimated that fuel poverty affects 12.1% of all households in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The scheme is focussed on helping householders in the Richmondshire district who have high energy bills in relation to their income.

Residents can qualify for funding through a range of criteria, which includes receiving means tested benefits or being on a low household income with high energy bills. In addition, elderly residents, those with a young family, pregnant women or residents with a health condition made worse by the cold, could also qualify for funding.

The scheme is managed by Community Interest Company YES Energy Solutions on behalf of Richmondshire District Council. YES Energy Solutions are accessing The Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme to provide additional funds to certain residents.

Installations will be completed through YES Energy Solutions’ network of accredited local contractors. The scheme is on a first come first served basis. Residents who think that they may qualify for the scheme are advised to call YES Energy Solutions on 01422 880100.
