Richmondshire District Council

A new plan to take Richmondshire District Council through the next four years won council approval last night.

Members of the authority’s Corporate Board recommended that full council adopt the plan which sets out its aims up to 2023. It includes plans to make the council’s operations zero carbon by 2030; increase the contribution to the tourism economy; invest in graduates and apprentices; introduce vehicle charging points; and establish a residents panel.

Councillors also want to find a sustainable future for the former Richmond School buildings; support the delivery of community led housing schemes; achieve recycling targets and improve broadband and mobile phone coverage.

“At the core of our plan are customers and communities, said Council Leader, Councillor Angie Dale. “We will work together to achieve our ambitions and enable growth on a regional and sub-regional basis. It is an exciting plan which will take us through the next four years.”

The plan will be debated by full council next month (December 10).
