Richmondshire District Council

Richmondshire’s community safety function has been secured for the next three years.

Members of the District Council’s Corporate Board this week (January 14) agreed to allocate additional funding to improve the existing provision.

They were told that funding for the current work of a part time officer ends on March 31. The additional money will secure a full time post to support community safety.

Six years ago the North Yorkshire Community Safety Partnership was set up to promote a co-ordinated approach to the work, supported by local teams including the Safer Richmondshire Hub. The hub is supported by a dedicated police officer.

Local work is divided to cover community safety and counter terrorism ‘prevent’ work.

“This partnership work provides a valuable service to keep Richmondshire safe, covering anti-social behaviour, abuse, crime and disorder as well as measures to prevent people being radicalised,” said Deputy Leader of the Council and Chairman of the Safer Richmondshire Hub, Councillor Helen Grant.
