Richmondshire District Council

Timings for the 2019 UCI Road World Championships – which come to Richmond - have been unveiled today (May 23).

The men’s junior road race sets off from Richmond marketplace on Thursday September 26 – heading for the finish line in Harrogate. It comes back through the district three days later on Sunday September 29 with the men’s elite road race.

Businesses and communities on the route are being encouraged to lodge a bid for cash from a district council fund set up to celebrate the visit. The UCI Event Fund has £25,000 allocated from the surplus Business Rates Pool dividend, which is available to support community based events - £5,000 will go to Richmond as a start town and the remainder allocated to groups outside the town, with priority given to those taking place along the race route on either day.

The maximum grant per application is £2,000 with no match funding required. Applicants can submit more than one application, however a second bid may be overlooked if it is oversubscribed.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on 17 June - the application form is available on our community grants scheme page.  For further information or advice contact: Samantha Coultish or Chloe Lewis on 01748 829100 or email grants@richmondshire.gov.uk
