Richmondshire District Council

Cash still available for upgrading play parks

Community groups are being urged not to miss out on a slice of a £250,000 grant programme to upgrade play parks across Richmondshire.

There are 44 parks looked after by town, parish and voluntary groups. All are eligible for cash support.

So far awards have been made to Bellerby (£8,500), Middleham (£10k), Hunton (£10k), Scorton (£10k), Harmby (£9,850) and Barton (£10k) – with another four applications in the pipeline for Melsonby, Gilling and Newton-le-Willows.

A maximum of £10,000 will be awarded for each project approved. Applications are simple, but groups are asked to supply three quotes for the planned work and the work must be completed within six months.

The district council scheme has also allocated £150,000 for the 25 parks it owns and maintains. Work on these is expected to begin soon.
